Less than one month to go in United Way campaign

The Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign is entering the final innings.

Executive Director Dave Brown said they're into week 11 of the 14 week fundraising initiative.

He said to date, they've raised $895,000 or 64 per cent of the $1.4 million target.

"I'm still feeling fairly confident, cautiously," said Brown. We're still waiting for the NOVA final campaign figures and that should bring us well over $1 million and that could be as early as this week and there's still a number of campaigns that are still rolling."

Tuesday, November 28 is Giving Tuesday.

Brown said in the past, they've seen a jump in donations on the day, and are hoping for the same this year.

"Right now we've got 1,900 donors so far, pretty close to last year," said Brown. "We're still tracking about $30,000 or $35,000 ahead of last year's pace. So, if that continues over the next three, three and half weeks, we'll be in good shape."

Brown said while the campaign target is set at $1.4 million, the actual need is closer to $1.6 million.
