Barr, 15, was selected by the Sting in the second round, 39th overall, in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.

The 6’1”, 163-pound Barr recorded seven goals and 31 assists through 36 regular season games played in addition to three goals and three assists through eight playoffs games for the Burlington Eagles U16 AAA team.

Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca said the smooth-skating righthanded defenceman is a welcome addition to the team.

"James Barr has all the tools we look for in defenceman," said Seca. "He skates well, can make plays with the puck, and he competes hard. We welcome James and the Barr family to Sting Nation."

The Sting signed first round pick Ryan Brown earlier this month.
