Cowboys and cowgirls saddle up for Alvinston Pro Rodeo

Cowboys and cowgirls from the United States, Brazil and Australia will compete against Canadians wranglers at the Alvinston Pro Rodeo this weekend.

The Brooke-Alvinston Agricultural Society has teamed up with Rawhide Rodeo Company to host the 4th annual event from Friday to Sunday.

Over 200 members of the International Professional Rodeo Association will be competing for top prizes in a variety of events, including; bareback, saddle and bull riding, steer wrestling, roping and barrel racing.

The event will be held rain or shine behind the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Complex.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Sunday, a Cowboy Father's Day breakfast is being held from 9 a.m. until the gates open at noon.

The local rodeo was started following the success of Watford’s Tyler Foster and Forest’s Rodney Weese.

Foster has won the title of International Professional Rodeo Association [IPRA] World Series Steer Wrestler and Weese has won the title of International Finals Rodeo Champion Steer Wrestler.
