Sarnia police say a 34-year-old man reported missing in April was allegedly involved in several incidents, including shoplifting, while he was still considered a "missing person."
Corey Maness was reported missing after he was last seen on April 6.
In an update provided on Friday, Sarnia police said Maness made "disparaging comments to his family" when he left his home in April, which left them feeling concerned.
However, since that date, police said Maness maintained communication with his family.
"Additionally, since April 6, 2023, Maness had been the subject of over ten separate police occurrences in which he either had been seen or was alleged to have been involved," read a media release from the Sarnia Police Service. "Most recently, Maness was positively identified by police in a shoplifting occurrence on June 25, 2023, where he was captured on security footage."
Maness was arrested Thursday night, shortly before 8 p.m., on a long list of outstanding warrants in the 100 block of Indian Road South, between Devine Street and Confederation Street.
Sarnia police said Maness is no longer considered to be a missing person and was held for a bail hearing on June 30.
The offences Maness was wanted for are listed below.
-Order for Committal
-Assault with a Weapon
-Pointing a Firearm
-Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
