Services will be held this week to remember and celebrate the legacy of Andrew “Andy” Brandt, former city alderman, Sarnia mayor, and MPP.
Brandt passed away on December 22, 2023, at the age of 85.
Visitations will be held on January 17 at Smith Funeral Home, located on London Line in Sarnia. Family and friends will be received between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the London Line location on January 18 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow.
After the funeral service, a celebration of life luncheon will be held at Lambton College Residence, in the Andrew S. Brandt Ballroom.
Brandt held a variety of positions within municipal and provincial politics and was a key proponent for the extension of Highway 402 to Sarnia, read his obituary.
He was recognized for his years of public service in 2002 when he was presented with the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal.
"Beyond his professional accomplishments, [Brandt's] genuine warmth, unwavering friendship, and commitment to the arts and public service will be remembered fondly by those fortunate enough to have shared in his journey," read the obituary.

Flags on municipal property in the City of Sarnia will be lowered to half-mast on Wednesday and Thursday.
