Cinderella Project rebranded, includes wider scope

Sarnia-Lambton Rebound is accepting gently used formal attire for its rebranded initiative, Red Carpet Ready, formerly the Cinderella Project.

The non-profit organization took over the initiative in 2018 to provide free prom and graduation dresses to youth in the community.

Fund Development and Marketing Coordinator Maddisyn Fisher said the project now represents a diversity of youth.

"So Red Carpet Ready now, not only provides enchanting dresses and accessories but also includes dashing suits and masculine clothing," she said. "So instead of it being very focused on women and young girls and making sure there's feminine formal attire, now we're completely widening the scope."

Fisher said the initiative is also no longer limited to proms or graduations, any youth in the community in need of formal wear can access Red Carpet Ready.

Donations are currently being accepted at Two Water Brewing Co. in Corunna, Ravell Insurance in Forest, Family Discount in Petrolia, and The ReFound Store in Sarnia. Items should be clean and in good condition.

Accessories such as ties, shoes, belts, and handbags will also be accepted.

Distribution events will be held in the spring at the Dante Club.

Pop-up shops will be held on March 8 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., March 9 and March 10 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and March 11 from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online registration will open on February 8.
