Dole Canada has recalled more salad kits from the market due to a potential Listeria contamination.
Dole's 319 gram Avocado Ranch Chop Kit with best before dates between February 6 and February 20 and 369 gram Southwest Salad Supreme Kit with best before dates between February 3 and February 18 are being pulled from store shelves. As are President's Choice's 369 gram Southwest Salad Kit with best before dates up to and including February 18.
The recall follows one made earlier in the week.
The potential Listeria contamination comes from cheese used in the products, which is under investigation in the United States.
Symptoms of Listeria can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk of infection.
At this point, no illnesses have been reported in Canada due to these products. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recommends if you have any of the affected salad kits at home that you should throw them away or return them to the point of purchase.
CFIAs investigation is ongoing, which may lead to the recall of additional products.
