In 2008, Williamson became one of the owners and a director of the Sarnia Blast Hockey Club (now the Sarnia Legionnaires).

He served as general manager for several years, before retiring in 2018.

According to his obituary, Williamson was a "pillar of strength and guidance, always providing unwavering support and encouragement to his children in every aspect of their lives."

It said he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and cherished memories.

"Beyond his involvement in sports, [Williamson] was known for his infectious sense of humor and his fondness for playing tricks on everyone around him," read the notice. [Williamson] will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, the hockey community, and all those whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him."
