Valentine's Day cards spread cheer to seniors

Whimsical and warm wishes on thousands of Valentine's Day cards were distributed locally Wednesday.

The Lambton County Library said 2,635 valentines were collected from patrons during its initiative this year.

The cards have been shared with the residents of the three long-term care homes operated by the county, and to those who attend the county's four adult day programs.

Students at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Sarnia recently shared that they were participating in the initiative.

“Our students were happy to write kind and thoughtful messages to seniors in our community,” said Acting Principal Kelly Tremblay. “I know the cards will help to bring a smile to their faces.”

Over 1,800 valentines were collected in 2023.
