'Leap into history' with Lambton book sale

Lambton County Archives will be selling hundreds of books during its Leap Day book sale.

The one-day "Leap Into History! Book Sale" will be held on Thursday, February 29 between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Archivist/Supervisor Nicole Aszalos said there will be plenty of new and used local history books, genealogy books, and DVDs for sale. Prices will vary with some products listed as low as $1.

"These are items that maybe fall outside of our collection's mandate, maybe triplicates or quadruplicates of items we already have in the collection, or items that people have shared with us explicitly for the book sale," Aszalos said. "So we typically try to find homes for a lot of the material."

Aszalos said this is their second time holding a Leap Day book sale. The first event in 2020 saw at least 100 attendees.

"It was an excellent day. I remember we were bustling from the time we opened to the time we closed and there was a lot of interest and a lot of books to go around," she said.

There is no entry fee to attend the book sale, however, donations will be accepted. Aszalos said all proceeds from the event will go back into the care and maintenance of the archive's collection and to providing new programs and services.

Items will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Cash, credit, and debit cards will be accepted.

The Lambton County Archives is at 787 Broadway St, just off of Confederation Line, in Wyoming.
