Lions dominate Wolves to secure first-ever OCAA women's basketball title

The script was written when Lambton College was selected as the host for the 2024 OCAA Women's Basketball Championship.

The Lions advanced to the championship game with a 65-50 semifinal win over the Niagara Knights on Saturday.

The Lambton Lions dominated the Algonquin Wolves with a 78-56 win, securing the 2024 OCAA women's basketball championship title.

The team got out to an early lead and finished the first quarter with a 13-point lead.

The momentum carried on into the second quarter with the Lions extending their to 50-19 at the half.

Brett Fischer led the charge with 15 points as Lambton had six players score in double digits, it was an all-around team effort.

The previously unbeaten Algonquin Wolves came in with a record 14-0.

The Lions overcame a disappointing overtime loss in the OCAA 2023 championship game to become champions for the first time in team history.
