Three's Company fans are collecting donations and raising awareness for the Women's Interval Home of Sarnia-Lambton.
The first ever local Mrs. Roper's Romp is on Thursday night.
Participants will don their colourful kaftans and large glasses and pearls in honour of the iconic Helen Roper from the popular 70s sitcom.
Organizer Jan Moran said she's had the idea for the event for a while after seeing how popular it's become in the U.S. and around the world.
"I had just had a Christmas lunch with a group of ladies and we had discussed this idea at Christmas time and I said 'wouldn't it be great if we had a crawl as Mrs. Roper, and everyone was like yes!," said Moran. "So my other friend and I went into the second hand store and literally a dress was hanging right in front of me, and I go o.k., it's happening."
She said she wanted to help out the Women's Interval Home at the same time and collect some much needed donation items for the emergency shelter.
"Towels, women's underwear of all sizes, plain t-shirts, razors, gas cards, gift cards and lunch snacks for students that are non-perishable, things along that line," said Moran. "An e-transfer directly to the Women's Interval Home would be greatly appreciated if that's easier for some."
In September 2023, Lambton County Council declared intimate partner violence (IPV) an epidemic.
At that time, Executive Director of the Women's Interval Home of Sarnia-Lambton Jennifer Vansteenkiste said since 2020, the local emergency shelter had seen a 63 per cent increase in clients.
Those taking part in the Mrs. Roper's Romp are asked to gather underneath Blue Water Bridge, along the Point Edward waterfront, in their kaftans for a group photo at 7 p.m.
Donations will be accepted there.
The group will then make their way through downtown Sarnia visiting several bars and restaurants.
