Attempted murder charge laid in Rainbow Park stabbing

A 33-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with attempted murder after a 40-year-old was stabbed in the neck at Rainbow Park.

First responders were called to the Christina Street park on Monday at around 6:35 p.m.

Sarnia police said a male victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

The suspect allegedly fled the scene but was quickly found by city police.

Officers said both people involved know each other.

Sarnia police said Richard William Thomas Hales was charged with attempted murder and failure to comply with a probation order. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Officers remained in the Rainbow Park area into Tuesday morning as part of the investigation.
