Submissions being accepted for Lambton Youth Short Film Competition

The Lambton Youth Short Film Competition is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and submissions are now being accepted for the upcoming event.

It's part of the Lambton Film and Food Festival (LaFFF), taking place May 23 to 26 at Forest's Kineto Theatre.

There are cash prizes totalling up to $2,000 for the top youth films. Participants may enter short films of up to three minutes in length in a variety of possible categories.

They include, but are not limited to, Comedy, Documentary, Franco Fier, Mino Bimaaddiziwin, and Animation.

Students recently received some help from Brent Orr and his company “Film in a Day”.

They visited seven schools in Lambton and Chatham-Kent in February and April, conducting six live training sessions to assist the students in their film making. Over 150 students took part, which is a record number.

Schools included Northern High School, St. Patricks Catholic HighSchool, St. Joseph Corunna, Holy Trinity Catholic School, St. Joseph Tilbury, Ecole Secondaire Franco-Jeunesse, and Ecole Catholique St Francois-Xavier.

The deadline to submit a film is 4 p.m. on Monday, May 20.

The films must be submitted electronically, and details on how to do so can be found at www.kineto.ca/lafff.

Viewing and judging of the films will be held on May 23, at 6 p.m. in the Kineto Theatre in Forest and is open to all students and the members of the public.

The LaFFF is supported by the Optimist Club of Forest, the Kiwanis Club of Forest, Cine Sarnia, and Jackpot City.
