Guilty verdict delivered in 2021 death of Allen Schairer

A Sarnia jury has found Joshua Tomlinson guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Allen Schairer over three years ago.

The 38-year-old was one of two men charged in the January 2021 homicide of the 62-year-old man at his Devine Street home.

The verdict was delivered on Thursday night following a seven week trial that heard from over a dozen witnesses.

Tomlinson was sentenced to life in prison. He is scheduled to appear in Superior Court again on June 14, 2024 to set a date for his parole eligibility hearing.

Tomlinson and Noah Brown, 31, were both charged with second-degree murder and break and enter in connection with Schairer's death.

Brown pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter and is scheduled to be sentenced next week.
