Just over 33 per cent of nearly $520,000 in funding announced by the Judith and Norman Alix Foundation is being directed to the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority this spring.
The foundation's board has approved $172,500 for the Warwick Community Trail, the Warwick Conservation Area Natural Playground, and the Wawanosh Conservation Area trail upgrades.
The Lambton Centre will receive $100,000 for the construction of a new meeting house and multi-purpose gathering space for families, children and youth, and seniors.
The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario is getting a $60,000 boost to fund a new pavilion located at the Jerry McCaw Family Centre for use by YMCA members, summer camp participants, and members of the community.
The Forest Food Bank receives $65,000 toward its renovations to Contact House -- the new food bank location -- and close to $100,000 is being directed to the St. Joseph’s Hospice for renovations and upgrades to the residence and resource centre.
The Moore Agricultural Society is getting $18,500 for accessibility upgrades to the Junior Fair Building at the Brigden Fairgrounds and the March of Dimes receives $5,000 for renovations and repairs to the Standing Oaks Facility.
In the past 30 years, the foundation has advanced more than $6 million to over 50 community projects including: Withdrawal Management Services at Bluewater Health; the installation of artificial turf at Norm Perry Park in Sarnia and the construction of the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery.
