Alleged stunt driver turns themselves in

A Windsor driver is facing multiple charges in connection with a number of traffic incidents over the weekend in a couple of jurisdictions.

Just after 9 p.m. Saturday in Grand Bend, Lambton OPP attempted to stop a vehicle on Main Street for a traffic violation, however police said the vehicle failed to stop and took off.

Police said the same vehicle was reported to be involved in a crash a short time later in the area of Greenway Road and Lakeshore Road.

It's alleged the suspect vehicle took off from the collision scene travelling south on Lakeshore.

Then about two hours later, Essex OPP spotted the same suspect vehicle on Highway 401 going over 200 kilometres an hour in a 100 km/h zone.

The 23-year-old driver turned themself in to Lambton OPP on Sunday.

Their licence has been suspended for 30 days and the vehicle impounded for two weeks.

Police said the driver is charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle, two counts of stunt driving, flight from a peace officer, failing to stop for police, failing to report an accident, failing to remain and failing to report damage to property on highway.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in August.
