Lambton Agriculture Hall of Fame announce 2024 inductees

Two men and one family have been inducted in the Lambton Agriculture Hall of Fame.

The Bryans family of Munro Honey are being recognized for their involvement in the agriculture community providing pollination services for a wide-range of Lambton County crops, as well as supplying queen bees and nucleus colony starter kit for a new hive for the county and beyond.

Additionally, the Bryans have supplied bee equipment and supplies needed for both hobby and commercial production.

For his lifetime of business development in crops and pigs, while having community and producer organization  involvement Jim Duffy is being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Duffy grew up in the Alvinston and Watford area where he started his dedication to 4-H as a club member completing 20 4-H projects in field crops, beef and swine and serving as the president of Brooke Township Junior Farmers.

After purchasing their current farm in 1973, Duffy was heavily involved in the Lambton Federation as president and vice president. He also served as director and chairman of Lambton Soil and Crop Association and the director of Lambton soybean and wheat commodity boards.

Jim Goodhand, who grew up in London and discovered his love for the farm when working with a family friend in Blenheim, is also being recognized this year.

He got involved with the Lambton Pork Producers and was an active board member for 20 years.

Goodhand also served as a delegate on the Ontario Pork Board for 15 years and as chair for three.

During this time he travelled internationally to Europe including France and Denmark, and to the United States to meet with foreign government officials and lobbied provincial and federal government officials on issues facing the agriculture sector.

Locally, he has been involved with the Lambton County Corn and Soybean Associations.

A reception to honour the inductees will be held at the Brooke-Alvinston Community Centre Complex on July 13 at 1:30 p.m.
