Sarnia police arrest suspect who provided fake name

A 28-year-old man, who falsely identified himself to Sarnia police, is facing numerous charges including causing a disturbance.

On Tuesday July 2, at around 11:40 a.m., police were called to a traffic complaint for a male on a bicycle in the middle of Confederation Street at Ontario Street attempting to hit cars.

About 10 minutes later, police were dispatched to The Inn of the Good Shepherd at 950 Confederation Street.

The same man, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, was allegedly trying to smash the front window, and was uttering threats.

Police said he was placed under arrest and gave a fake name.

When police identified him, they discovered he was subject to a court imposed probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Police said the accused falsely identified himself to police multiple times before, and would have been in violation of his probation had his proper identity been known.

He's facing charges of uttering threats, causing a disturbance, mischief under $5,000, eight counts of failing to comply with probation, and six counts of obstructing police.

The suspect was released from custody on a recognizance of bail for all outstanding charges currently before the court.
