UPDATE: Four suspects arrested in Bluewater Power theft

Four men from Toronto are facing charges after a break and enter at Bluewater Power.

Sarnia police were called to the utility, in the area of Confederation Street and Indian Road, at around 1 a.m. Friday.

When officers arrived, it's alleged the four suspects jumped into a cargo van and fled the area, forcing an officer to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. Police briefly pursued the van, but the chase was quickly called off due to high speeds and concerns for public safety.

Police said the suspect vehicle went through a red light at Confederation Street and Murphy Road, where it collided with another motor vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle did not sustain any physical injuries.

Police said the driver of the van continued onto the eastbound lanes of Highway 402, and officers notified Lambton OPP.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., the vehicle was spotted by an OPP officer in Wyoming, and the suspects fled the van on foot.

The K9 unit tracked down all four parties and they were turned over to Sarnia police to continue the investigation.

A 21-year-old is charged with failing to stop after an accident, flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, break, enter and theft, and failing to comply with a release order.

Three others aged 26, 27, and 30 are each charged with break, enter and theft.

All four were held pending the results of a bail hearing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Division at 519-344-8861.
