Teens capture 'Lambton Through the Lens' in local contest

Four winners have been selected after 122 submissions were received for the Teen Photo Contest: Lambton Through the Lens.

This year's contest theme was meant to commemorate Lambton County's 175th anniversary through various photos.

The submission deadline was July 7.

Isis Belleman-McKeegan was selected as the overall winner.

As for the categories, Joey Cantalini won for local icon, Madeline Palleschi won for abstract, and Alexis Brown won for romance of ruin.

"This contest provides an important platform for young artists to share their vision and connect with their community,” said Lambton County Library Public Services Coordinator Adrianne Lebert. “By engaging in creative activities like photography, teens are also developing their visual literacy skills, which are essential in our increasingly digital world."

The panel of judges included Music and Portrait Photographer Arden Mailhiot, renowned Music Photographer Richard Beland, and Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery Curator Sonya Blazek.

The judges also selected 25 photographs (including the winners' submissions) to be included in the gallery’s upcoming exhibit from August 2 to October 12.

"We are continually amazed by the talent and creativity of our local teens. This exhibition not only showcases their incredible work but also celebrates the unique perspectives they bring to our community," said Blazek.

The Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery offers free admission and is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. with extended hours on Thursdays until 8:30 p.m.
