Rowing 8 team takes home silver in Paris

Canada's women's eight rowing team has won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics.

The team finished 4 minutes and 45 seconds behind Romania with Great Britain earning the bronze.

Led by coxswain Kristen Kit and three returning team members from the Tokyo Olympics, the crew were the defending champions going into this race.

It was a close race between Canada and Britain as the two teams battled it out in the last 500 metres with Canada pulling ahead to get the silver.

In addition to Kit, the other members include Kasia Gruchalla-Wesierski, Sydney Payne, Avalon Wasteneys, Abby Dent, Caileigh Filmer, Maya Meschkuleit, Jessica Sevick, and Kristina Walker.
