Military vehicles will travel across southwestern Ontario on Friday to attend different training exercises.
Canadian Army Reserve personnel and vehicles from across the 4th Canadian Division (4 Cdn Div) will travel to Garrison Petawawa for a major Royal Canadian Armoured Corps field exercise from August 16 until August 30.
Convoy operations may be seen on Highways 401, 407, 115, 28, 62, 66, and others.
Military traffic will follow pre-planned routes between Windsor, Sarnia, London, The Greater Toronto Area, and Oshawa, through to Garrison Petawawa -- near Ottawa.
The 33 Canadian Brigade Group said participating soldiers will be in uniform, carrying unloaded weapons, but will not carry ammunition.
Participating personnel will also conduct planned stops throughout the route for rest, fuel, scheduled maintenance, and other training.
"This important training supports year-round preparations for international operations and maintains 4 Cdn Div readiness to support our partners and allies overseas with trained and professional soldiers," read a media release. "Canadian Army exercises also help maintain readiness to respond to emergencies in Canadian communities, including natural disasters like flooding and wildfires, as our members always prepare to deploy in response to requests for assistance."
Meanwhile, soldiers from 31 Canadian Brigade Group will travel on highways and roadways leading to Sarnia, beginning Friday afternoon, in order to attend a training exercise in the United States. The route will include 400-series and 20-series highways.
The 31 Canadian Brigade Group is headquartered in London and has over 1,800 members across southwestern Ontario.
Residents were advised of similar operations in the Sarnia-Lambton area on Wednesday.
