The Director of Education for St. Clair Catholic District School Board for the past three years has announced his intention to retire at the end of March 2025.
Scott Johnson announced at Tuesday's board meeting that he will be ending his career in education, one that has spanned 33 years.
"I am so grateful to have worked with dedicated Catholic educators and support staff who care so deeply for our students," said Johnson. "I have witnessed love, compassion, professionalism, and inclusivity in every one of our schools."
Johnson began his career as an elementary teacher with the Halton Catholic District School Board in 1992. In 2005, he and his family relocated to Sarnia, where he joined St. Clair Catholic District School Board. Over the years, he held various roles, including elementary and secondary teacher, student success teacher, behavioral resource teacher, secondary vice-principal, elementary principal, and superintendent of education. He assumed the role of Director in 2021.
"Scott Johnson's leadership has been a true blessing to our Catholic school community," said John Van Heck, Chair of the Board. "His unwavering commitment to faith, education, and the well-being of our students has left an indelible mark on all of us. We wish him all the best as he enters this new chapter of life, and we are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind."
