Work moving ahead at former Gregory A. Hogan School

More work has been completed at the former Gregory A. Hogan School.

Recently the St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) awarded the project contract to Forest's Wellington Builders.

So far, several portables have been removed from the site and sections of the building have been demolished.

"That is the removal of the existing gymnasium and some of the front and we're now in the process of starting our foundations," said SCCDSB Facilities Manager Tony Montanino.

He also said the hope is to have the outside completed by the winter.

"We envision that in early October we'll start the masonry and with the goal of getting closed back in before the deep cold of late December, January, February," said Montanino.

Currently, work on the foundation for the gymnasium, the mechanical and electrical rough-ins are being completed and then the masonry will be done in the fall.

"Once we get the structure in place you'll see structural steel in addition to the metal deck and then we'll put in a roofer to roof in that part of the building,"  said Montanino.

Asbestos abatement at the Hogan Drive site was completed in June.

Staff and students from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Sarnia are scheduled to move into the newly renovated facility in September 2025.
