Bright's Grove man wins big with LOTTO 6/49

A Bright's Grove man is nearly $250,000 richer after he won big on a LOTTO 6/49 ticket.

Jon Walsh won a second prize worth $249,655 in the August 14 draw.

He said he's been playing the lottery for years and always makes sure to add ENCORE to his tickets.

Walsh was grocery shopping when he checked his ticket.

"I quickly headed back home and asked my son to double check my ticket," said Walsh. "He confirmed that I had indeed won big. He was in shock too."

Walsh hopes to travel and visit with friends with his winnings.

"It's still unbelievable. Winning feels very good. It provides the freedom to do things we couldn't do before," he said.

The ticket was purchased at Foodland on Lakeshore Road in Bright's Grove.
