Lambton County libraries will have some special guests this week to mark Local Government Week.
From October 15 to 19 Warden Kevin Marriott, and mayors and councillors from across Lambton's member municipalities, will be dropping in to help deliver story time programs.
“Public libraries are an essential community resource and studies have shown that communities with higher literacy rates also often have low unemployment rates, higher wage earners, and higher educational attainment,” said Marriott. “Lambton County council is proud of the professional library service it offers to our community and supports the library’s efforts to nurture a literate community that is able to read, write, count, comprehend, communicate and critically evaluate ideals and information at all ages and stages of life.”
The visits will allow families a chance to meet a local elected representative, and celebrate the important work of local government service.
