The Sarnia-Lambton United Way has reached a pivotal point in its campaign.
Director of Development and Communications Ryan Doyle said the annual fundraising effort is in week seven of 14.
"So the halfway point and we're super excited," said Doyle. "And, we've hit halfway for the dollar. We've raised $758,000, which is about 51 per cent of our goal, which is $1.487 million."
Doyle said sadly, donations are not keeping up with inflation.
"But, I mean if they were that would be legendary," he said. "We're still happy with the numbers we're seeing and people are still being super generous. As we know, we've only increased our campaign goal by one per cent. So we're optimistic that we're going to increase the amount of funding for local programs, but it will not keep up with inflation."
Meanwhile, Doyle said applications for one-year funding opens next month and final decisions for the 2025-26 funding allotment will be determined by the end of the year.
Currently, the United Way helps fund 17 local agencies providing 29 programs and services to the community, including Habitat for Humanity and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
