The provincial government is giving veterans free access on weekdays to all provincial parks.
Acting Environment, Conservation and Parks Minister Todd McCarthy released the news in a statement on November 4 in recognition of Remembrance Week.
"Veterans and active service members may take advantage of this program by presenting their valid Canadian Armed Forces identification card and proof of Ontario residency at the entrance of any provincial park. Free weekday entry also extends to loved ones accompanying a service member or veteran in the same vehicle," stated the release from Minister McCarthy.
McCarthy added that “We are immensely grateful for the brave actions of Canadian men and women in uniform – both past and present – who have fought to defend our country and protect the values of freedom and democracy. In recognition of their service, Ontario is proud to offer veterans and active service members free weekday day-use access to Ontario’s provincial parks throughout the entire year."
