Refined Fool's Charity Takeover Night to support RCV

River City Vineyard (RCV) is excited to partner with Refined Fool Brewing Co. for a second year to raise money to support ongoing operations at the Mitton Street community centre.

The Charity Takeover Night will be held on Wednesday, November 6 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Fifteen per cent of all food and drink sales will go toward RCV.

"We did it last year for the first time and we had a really successful night," said Worship Pastor Renee Card. "In addition to that 15 per cent, we're also holding a silent auction again, a 50/50 draw, and then we're going to have a live band performing from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., which is made up of all musicians from River City Vineyard."

Card said funds raised will support RCV's outreach programs, including their homeless shelter, food bank, and shower and hygiene programs.

"Our food bank is quite low right now, obviously with the cost of living and the cost of food right now. It's always in constant demand so it's always hard to keep our shelves stocked," Card said. "Our homeless shelter, I'd say we're probably a little over half capacity right now but with the weather starting to turn cold, we are seeing those numbers begin to increase."

The shelter is expected to reach full capacity soon. Card said the basement has 28 beds and the shelter expansion includes an additional 16 beds for women and 25 for men.

The fundraiser will be held at Refined Fool's London Road location.

For those unable to attend the Charity Takeover Night, Card said monetary and food donations are always welcome and appreciated at RCV. She said donations eligible for a tax receipt can be made through RCV's website.
