Sarnia police remind motorists to lock your vehicles

Sarnia police recovered a stolen vehicle over the weekend, resulting in several charges for a 23-year-old man.

Officers were called to Pat Stapleton Arena on Brock Street at around 2:45 a.m. Saturday, January 4.

A resident reported his vehicle had been stolen from the arena parking lot.

Police allege the unlocked vehicle was entered and the suspect located a spare key while rummaging through the glove box.

Shortly afterwards, an officer on patrol spotted the stolen vehicle pulling into a parking lot on Euphemia Street.

The driver was arrested, and during a search police discovered break and enter tools, as well as a quantity of fentanyl.

The suspect is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order, possession of break-in instruments and possession of a schedule 1 substance.
