Impaired driving charges laid in hit and run crash

A 53-year-old Sarnia man is facing impaired driving charges after he allegedly collided with two parked vehicles.

Police were called to the area of Trudeau Drive and Prestwick Crescent at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, January 11.

Investigators said a black jeep collided with two parked vehicles and fled the scene despite sustaining significant damage to the front-end.

Police said with help from multiple witnesses, the vehicle was quickly located in a parking lot at the intersection of Finch Drive and Wellington Street.

The driver was found laying on the ground beside the vehicle and displayed signs of impairment.

Breath samples indicated the driver was over three times the legal limit.

They have been charged with impaired operation, failure to remain and having a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.
