Eggs being recalled for possible salmonella contamination

Several brands of eggs are being recalled.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, 17 products sold across the country may be contaminated with salmonella.

The impacted brands are Compliments, Foremost, Golden Valley Eggs, IGA, No Name, and Western Family.

Food contaminated with salmonella can cause young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems to contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.

Healthy people can experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Long-term complications can include severe arthritis.

Anyone who may have eaten the possibly contaminated eggs should contact their local health care provider.

People who still have the eggs can either throw them away or return them to the location they bought them from.

More information, including the exact brand of eggs, can be found online.
