Local performers have been chosen for the sixth annual Sarnia Sings fundraiser to support mental health services in the community.
Organizer Adam Dumond said nearly 50 people auditioned in early February.
"We had to cut a bunch of really good ones but we got down to about 25 participants this year," he said.
Dumond said most will perform individually but there will be a couple of duets and possibly a group performance.
The show will be held on May 1 at Imperial Theatre. Dumond said it's typically a nerve wracking day. The band arrives from Toronto in the afternoon and from there, sound checks are done before doors open to the public.
"We basically put on a full production in a day with zero rehearsal," Dumond said. "We do a little bit, of what we call a run-through so people can hear their voice in the microphone. There's no formal rehearsal with the band at all so it creates a little bit of anticipation for sure."
He credited theatre staff and sponsors who help put on the show.
Dumond said the event usually sells out every year.
Tickets went on sale on February 21 and can be purchased for $40 each through Imperial Theatre's website.
In the past, proceeds from the event have supported St. Clair Child and Youth Services and the Canadian Mental Health Association.
