Man arrested for allegedly forging opioid prescriptions

Sarnia police have arrested a man who is accused of sending fraudulent opioid prescriptions to pharmacies in Sarnia, Corunna and Glencoe.

Between, January 21 and 29, the suspect allegedly requested oxycodone and hydrocodone, both substances listed in schedule one of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

When the accused went to a pharmacy in Sarnia on January 30 to claim a prescription, he was taken into custody by city police.

A 25-year-old from London is charged with six counts each of uttering a forged document and fraud, and was held for a bail hearing.

The Sarnia Police Service said it wants to get in touch with any additional pharmacies which may have received similar fraudulent prescriptions for these substances.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
