Gallery in the Grove opens first exhibit of 2025

Two local artists will be showcased at Gallery in the Grove as a part of its new exhibition.

The Art of Seeing will feature Adelle Taylor and Joan Bennett Ross.

"Their art is completely different from each other, but it actually goes together quite well," said Chairperson Kirsten Kilner-Holmes. "Joan's work is in our west gallery and Adelle's work is in the east gallery."

Taylor's work dives into the emotional power of colour as a universal language

"Her paintings reflect a personal connection to the world and her drawings delve into the textures of nature like tree rings on a stump symbolizing the passage of time," said Kilner-Holmes.

Meanwhile, Ross's work is an influence of nature and works with oil, water and acrylic.

Kilner-Holmes said the gallery believes in showcasing emerging local and regional artists.

"We really believe in giving the opportunity to showcase the talents in the community and hang the work in a professionally curated gallery setting," she said.

Gallery in the Grove will be launching the new exhibition with an open reception Saturday, February 1.

Kilner-Holmes said the artists will also be in attendance.

"It's a great opportunity to talk to the artists, hear the stories behind their work. There's always some really interesting explanations of the story behind the work," she said.

The opening ceremony will be held from 11 a.m until 2 p.m.

Residents will have the chance to view the exhibit until March 8.
