Arrest made in Centennial Park bird killing

A 31-year-old Petrolia man was arrested in connection to the killing of four birds at Centennial Park on Saturday, February 1.

Sarnia police were called to the park in the afternoon for reports of a man driving through birds and geese being fed by locals.

On Saturday night, police were called to the area of Indian Road North and Exmouth Street at 11:37 p.m. for reports of the vehicle that was involved in the incident.

Responding officers located the vehicle and the suspect, which they believed to be impaired.

Police said the driver refused to provide a breathalyzer test sample.

He's been charged with failure or refusal to comply with breath demand and four counts of cruelty to animals.

He was released from custody and his vehicle was suspended for seven days and his license has been suspended for 90 days.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
