Stunt driver caught going 101 km/h over limit

A 26-year-old Alvinston man has been charged with stunt driving after a vehicle was caught travelling 101 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit.

The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service was conducting stationary radar enforcement on Calvert Drive, east of Glen Oak Road, Wednesday night.

Just after 10 p.m., police said officers observed a vehicle travelling westbound at an exceptionally high rate of speed.

Radar clocked the vehicle at 181 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone—more than double the legal limit.

A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was arrested and charged with stunt driving.

His licence was suspended for 30 days and vehicle will be impounded for 14 days.

Police are reminding all motorists to obey speed limits, and that excessive speed is dangerous and can have deadly consequences.
