First Household Hazardous Waste collection event of 2025

Residents who are planning to do some spring cleaning can get rid of items such as aerosols, propane cylinders, and drain cleaners during the first Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection event of 2025.

Items can be dropped off, at no cost, at Clean Harbors Lambton Facility in St. Clair Township from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 29.

The County of Lambton has partnered with Clean Harbors Canada Inc. to host six drop-off events and two mobile ones this year so items can be disposed of safely.

After this weekend, HHW collection events will be held on April 26, May 31, June 21, September 20, and October 25.

The mobile events will be held in Sarnia at Lambton College Parking Lot 11 on June 7, and in Lambton Shores at Public Works Forest Depot on October 4.

"Corrosive, toxic, reactive and flammable materials will be collected at these events," said County of Lambton Public Works Manager Matt Deline. "These items should never be placed in a regular landfill because they have the potential to injure workers and damage the environment."

Only household materials will be collected during these events. The county said commercially generated hazardous waste, including industrial and agricultural, will not be accepted.

A full list of acceptable materials can be found on the county's website or residents can call 519-845-0801.

The Clean Harbors site is located at 4090 Telfer Rd.
