Construction of a splash pad in Bright's Grove is up for Sarnia council discussion on March 31.
Mayor Mike Bradley said council is being asked to direct staff to accept a donation from the Pat and Val Gladwish Foundation and proceed with a tender package for construction.
"It's an incredible donation to support building a splash pad at the historic and much beloved Kenwick Park," said Bradley. "It's an ideal location and the hope is -- if we can move forward and get council approval -- that it could be in place by Canada Day when the park is jammed. If not, it will be completed this summer."

Bradley said the city would cover the ongoing maintenance and operational costs.
"It's a tremendous renewal of that park and we had already been looking as a city on how we can improve the park as it related to the basketball courts and other facilities there. So, having this very generous donation to provide a splash pad, is a huge boost to that park and to the Bright's Grove area," he said.
Bradley said the donation aligns to the "spirit of Sarnia."
"Over the years, whether it be the Alix Foundation, Mrs. Cox, or the many, many other donors... we've had the ability to improve our community without the tax dollars being spent on these projects," he said. "It is a huge, huge boost knowing that citizens want to continue to make Sarnia better and make it a better place for people to live in."
Bradley expected more details about the donors would be released if the project progresses.
