A 19-year-old man was injured in a Saturday night assault at Sarnia's Centennial Park.
City police were called to the area at 8:15 p.m. for a disturbance and possible stabbing.
Police learned the victim had been allegedly assaulted by several individuals.
Investigators allege the man was knocked to the ground where the primary suspect punched and kicked him in the head multiple times.
Bystanders intervened and pulled the attackers off of him.
Police said the suspect and other attackers fled on foot.
The victim suffered facial lacerations and treated by ambulance at the scene.
He was then transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 16-year-old from Sarnia was later arrested at their home and charged with assault causing bodily harm.
He was released on an undertaking and his name is being withheld because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Investigators said reports someone was stabbed were unfounded.
The investigation is ongoing.
