Indwell open house focuses on supportive housing solutions

Sarnia-Lambton residents are invited to an open house Tuesday to discover how they can support the expansion of supportive housing in the community.

Indwell will host an open house at the Four Points by Sheraton in Point Edward. The charity has helped provide supportive housing to 1,290 people in seven communities.

You can learn all about its mission and watch screenings of the documentary Safe, which explores the difference permanent, stable, and supportive housing makes in the lives of those living with mental health and addiction issues.

Registration for the event is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with film screenings at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Regional Director Natasha Thuemler said Indwell is committed to creating hope and homes for all.

"We believe that everyone deserves a safe and stable place to call home, and we’re eager to share our model with the Sarnia-Lambton community," said Thuemler. "This event is not only about showcasing our work but also about fostering conversations on how we can collaborate to expand supportive housing solutions for those in need."

Lambton County Warden Kevin Marriott said they're pleased to collaborate with Indwell.

"Addressing the challenges of housing and mental health requires coordinated partnerships,” said Marriott. “By working together, we can ensure that vulnerable individuals have access to safe and supportive living environments, ultimately improving quality of life across our region."

The Rotary Club of Sarnia is also supporting this initiative and encouraging local engagement.
