Motorcycle raffle to help children of crash victim

The community is rallying together to raise money for the family of a motorcyclist whose life tragically ended too soon.

Colin Mertick, who was a well-known and deeply respected figure in the local motorcycle community, died in a crash on October 2, 2024.

A news release said Colin was "known for his big heart, infectious spirit, and unique ability to bring people together."

In his honour, friends and loved ones have organized a special fundraiser to support his five children’s future through the creation of a dedicated trust fund.

A 2025 Harley Davidson Street Glide motorcycle will be raffled off on Saturday, May 10 at the Corunna Legion, and there will also be a 50/50 draw.

“Colin had an unmatched way of connecting with people," said the organizers. "This is our way of giving back to someone who gave so much, and of ensuring his children are cared for in the years ahead."

Tickets for the motorcycle draw are $100 each.

The event gets underway at 1 p.m., and the draw will take place around 3:30 p.m.
