SPS note increase in traffic violations

Sarnia police are noticing an increase in the number of drivers who are unsafe while behind the wheel, whether it's because of speeding or distracted driving.

Officers within the Traffic Services Unit recently monitored the area of Old Lakeshore Road in Bright’s Grove to stop drivers from speeding.

"The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) is dedicated to enhancing road safety by actively monitoring traffic and educating the public through continued enforcement efforts," read a media release.

City police reported an increase of approximately 150 per cent in both provincial and municipal charges issued so far this year, compared to the same time period last year.

The charges range from aggressive and distracted driving to driving without insurance.
