Criminal charges laid in April collision

Sarnia police have laid charges in a crash in the spring that resulted in the lengthy closure of a busy intersection.

On April 21 at around 4:40 a.m., a vehicle slammed into the traffic lights at the intersection of Finch Drive and Wellington Street and rolled, landing on its roof.

The driver was taken to Bluewater Health for treatment of a small facial fracture

The crash knocked out power to customers in Sherwood Village for just over three hours. The intersection was closed to traffic into the evening hours as repairs were made to the traffic lights and hydro pole.

In a news released issued Monday, Sarnia police said the 57-year-old male driver has been arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving under suspension, and driving without a licence.
