Brigden Fairgrounds to host 2027 International Plowing Match

Site selection for the 2027 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo is complete.

The event will be held at the Brigden Fairgrounds in St. Clair Township.

The Ontario Plowmen’s Association (OPA) along with the Lambton County Plowmen’s Association and the Local Hosting Committee officially announced the location on Thursday.

It was announced back in April that the historic event would be returning to Lambton County for the first time in 36 years.

"Brigden Fairgrounds offers excellent infrastructure, ample space, and a welcoming community atmosphere that will make this event truly special,” said organizer and member of the Lambton County Plowmen’s Association Dennis Bryson in a news release. “It’s a perfect site that combines tradition with modern amenities, ensuring a memorable experience for exhibitors and visitors alike.”

Spokesperson with the Brigden Fairgrounds Dennis Robinson said in the news release it's a fantastic opportunity for Lambton County to showcase its agricultural roots and innovative farming practices.

“The fairgrounds' charm and capacity to host large crowds make it the perfect venue for the 2027 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo," said Robinson.

The five day event will feature top plowmen and women from across North America, along with a diverse array of agricultural exhibits, entertainment, and educational activities. Organizers are already anticipating over 100,000 visitors, providing a substantial boost to the local economy.

"We are excited to welcome the world to our community and share our rich heritage and vibrant culture," said Bryson in the release.

The International Plowing Match was previously held in Lambton County in 1923, 1973 and most recently in 1991.

Further details, including dates, will be announced in the coming months.
