Pavement issues force another Hwy. 402 closure

Those heading toward the London area are being advised that a portion of Highway 402 eastbound is closed.

Lambton OPP said the roadway is shutdown at Airport Road as of Monday afternoon due to an issue with the road pavement.

Traffic is being rerouted via Airport Road to London Line, to Mandaumin Road and back to the 402.

Police said the closure is expected to be lengthy.

It's the third time this summer that road surface issues have closed a portion of the roadway.

In late June, crews repaired a section of Highway 402 westbound from Oil Heritage Road and Mandaumin Road.

On July 7, it was announced the westbound Highway 402 at Mandaumin Road was down to a single lane because of "evolving concrete issues" in the area.

In an update on Tuesday, OPP said the highway closure was anticipated to last until midnight.
