A Sarnia man is facing weapons charges after a rifle was found outside the bedroom of a burnt Devine Street apartment.
Damage was estimated at around $50,000 in the blaze on July 26.
Police said the fire inspector located the weapon, which was in possession of 35-year-old Daniel Plain.
At the time, Plain was under a court ordered firearms ban.
He was found by police on August 5, near College Avenue and Lochiel Street in Sarnia's downtown.
Plain was held for bail on the following charges:
- Failing to comply with probation x 8
- Possessing a firearm contrary to order x 3
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possessing a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Careless storage of a firearm
Police said since August of 2024, this is Plain's fourth arrest and 54th charge (including 21 probation violation charges).
