Artpath hosts debut event this weekend

Downtown Sarnia and the Mitton Village will be bustling this weekend.

It's the first ever Artpath.

Spokesperson Kylee Marsden said the multi-location arts festival, first announced in April, will feature multiple themed pods offering something unique at each site.

"We have nine pod locations located across the community with artisans, vendors and there's a few food vendors smattered in there as well," said Marsden.

She said there will be tons of live entertainment as well at the stage area on George Street near Bad Dog and live music at Paddy Flaherty's

"We have magician shows and jugglers, stilt walkers, all kinds of really cool family-friendly events happening."

A map of the pod locations can be found online at nusarnia.org.

Spokesperson Patrick Coutu said it's a great opportunity to visit the different areas of the city.

The event is spread out and the idea is to bring in some mobility aspects," said Coutu. "So, you could just park and then just walk around, or we'd really like to see people pull up on their bike. Bike from your house if it's feasible for you, there's lots of places to cool off, Lots of awesome businesses that have all kinds of activities plan in conjunction with all the activities going on in the pods."

Further details can be found on Artpath Sarnia's Facebook Page.

Artpath will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17.
