The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) says a 17-year-old girl suffered significant but non-life threatening injuries in a stabbing Tuesday night.
Police were called to Devine Street, west of Indian Road, at around 9:35 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found the victim with stab wounds to her left arm and lower back.
It's alleged the 18-year-old female suspect fled to a nearby residence and refused to come out.
The SPS Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit were brought in to help.
At around 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, police declared their intention to enter the home with a warrant, and the suspect surrendered and was arrested.
Police said the two parties had been arguing over a perceived insult.
The victim allegedly tried to disengage multiple times, but was stabbed with a folding knife.
She was treated at the scene by paramedics and transferred to Bluewater Health for further treatment.
Alivia Martin-Read (also known as Alivia Lopez), 18, was held for bail on charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon.
She was remanded into custody by the court, following a bail hearing.
